On Saturday October 27th the Harlingen Home
Depot hosted it's annual fire safety clinic. The clinic provided
people with valuable tips and advice on how to prepare for and
prevent home fires. They also showcased equipment and materials
appropriate for home fire prevention and safety.
The fire safety clinics are part of a
three-year partnership between the American Red Cross and The
Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, which
has so far provided disaster preparedness education to more than
one million people nationwide.
The South Texas Chapter distributed brochures throughout the
event to
promote and educate about fire safety.
The
main attraction to the American Red Cross booth was Ernie the
ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle). This lovable St. Bernard is a
new and wonderful addition the South Texas Chapter family, made
possible by a grant from the Home Depot. Ernie strolled around
the parking lot and greeted
children while passing out children’s activity books about
disaster preparedness.
A special thanks goes out to our volunteers who
participated in the event:

And a big THANK-YOU goes out to the Harlingen
Home Depot for all the work they did to make the Fire Safety
Clinic a big success!
